Overview As a Senior Associate in KPMG's SALT practice, you will support multi-state clients on state and local tax issues, spanning compliance, advisory, planning, technology, and controversies. You'll work with a diverse team and leverage the Ignition Centers to deliver innovative tax solutions. You'll help clients navigate complex tax situations, including restructuring and audit challenges, while developing your expertise through training and mentoring. Responsibilities- Provide excellent client service to multi-state companies on SALT issues (compliance, advisory, planning, technology, controversies)
- Review information on state sales and use tax returns before/during/after preparation
- Assist on state tax considerations related to business restructuring projects
- Assist with SALT controversies, including hearings, protests, and client preparation for discussions with auditors
- Research and draft technical memoranda on SALT questions
- Help clients with technology applications related to tax reporting
Key requirements- Minimum 3 years of experience in sales and transactions tax research and technical advice on multi-state issues
- Bachelor's degree (and/or J.D./LL.M./MST as part of qualifications)
- Experience with other corporate taxes and their impact on sales tax
- Strong knowledge of development, planning, and execution of sales and transactions tax refund claims
