Overview

In this role you lead tax matters for US and Canadian entities, guiding accounting, planning, compliance, and audits within a global tax context. You'll partner with Accounting and Global Tax to ensure accurate tax reporting and optimized planning. The position combines strategic tax work with team leadership, managing internal and external resources to support a fast-paced, complex operation. You drive compliant filings, efficient tax provision processes, and sound structuring recommendations that align with company objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead US and Canadian income tax accounting, planning, compliance, and audits
  • Oversee tax provision cycle from budgeting to annual reporting under IAS 12
  • Maintain deferred tax analysis and DTA realization assessments
  • Support global tax group on cross-border transactions and structure changes
  • Review tax sections of purchase/sale agreements and perform tax due diligence
  • Manage tax audits and negotiate settlements with authorities
  • Provide technical tax guidance on sales tax, property tax, and other indirect taxes
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff and liaise with external consultants
  • Maintain tax account analysis for income, property, and sales/use tax
  • Provide research and filing position documents with clear conclusions
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master's in taxation or advanced degree
  • Minimum 12 years of corporate tax experience
  • Minimum 8 years of supervisory/management experience
  • CPA designation
  • Strong knowledge of US and Canadian federal/state tax, sales/use tax, property tax, and audits
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in tax research and documentation
  • Strong Excel skills; working knowledge of SAP and HFM
