Overview In this role you will lead the end-to-end payroll function for the enterprise, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll across multiple countries. You will partner with HR, Treasury, Tax, and Audit to strengthen controls and support financial reporting, while modernizing processes through system change. You will manage a distributed payroll team, own international payroll operations, and oversee tax, garnishments, and off-cycle runs. You will shape the payroll control environment and drive data quality and automation to enable scalable growth. This is a high-impact role with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and strategic payroll excellence.
Responsibilities- Own the full payroll cycle for all pay groups and ensure timely, accurate processing
- Administer international payroll across multiple countries and currencies with in-country partners
- Direct off-cycle payments, retroactive adjustments, bonus/commission runs, and equity-related payroll events
- Set and monitor service levels for payroll inquiries and case resolutions
- Lead, develop, and retain the payroll team with clear objectives and succession planning
- Maintain a documented control environment over payroll with segregation of duties and approvals
- Ensure compliance with wage/hour laws, multi-state tax withholding, and garnishments
- Own payroll tax registrations, deposits, filings, and W-2 issuance/amendments
- Deliver payroll general ledger interface, accruals, and reconciliations within close cycles
- Support automation with benefit providers and own the annual workers' compensation audit
- Prepare internal payroll reporting and calculate monthly payroll allocations and bonus accruals
- Oversee 401(k) plan administration, including enrollment, deferrals, employer match, and annual true-up
- Lead annual 401(k) plan audit and Form 5500, coordinating with external auditors
- Identify opportunities to automate, standardize calendars, and improve data quality
- Partner with Financial Systems and HR on payroll/time capture platform roadmap
Key requirements- Bachelor in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field
- Twelve or more years of progressive payroll experience, including at least five years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax, wage/hour regulations, garnishments, and year-end reporting
- Hands-on experience with an enterprise payroll and time platform and cross-functional configuration work
- Working knowledge of payroll accounting, including accruals and reconciliations
- Experience leading payroll system implementations, conversions, or shared-services transitions
- Exposure to international payroll and equity compensation reporting
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce
