Technical Project Manager, Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead civil engineering projects within WSP's transportation practice, guiding cross-functional teams to deliver technical and contractual project outcomes. You'll oversee budgets, schedules, quality and safety, and ensure compliance with codes while supporting growth of Civil Engineering work in the region. You'll drive proposal development, staff selection, and client communications, delivering high-value strategic advice. This is a hands-on leadership position at the intersection of design, delivery, and client service, with a clear impact on infrastructure outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver multi-project work, managing budgets, hours, expenses, and deliverables
  • Oversee contract obligations and ensure QA/QC adherence across the project lifecycle
  • Develop and manage project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgets; lead proposal and project planning
  • Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, and internal staff; supervise and mentor team members
  • Represent the project in negotiations, presentations, and client meetings; provide strategic input to clients
  • Ensure compliance with City/State/Federal codes and engineering standards
  • Monitor safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; uphold WSP's Code of Conduct
  • Support business development and pipeline growth in assigned area
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related major
  • WA Professional Engineering license
  • 10+ years of post-education experience in roadway/highway/site development/transit design
  • 5+ years' project management experience on transportation infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Sound Transit, WSDOT, City of Seattle practices
  • Proficiency in civil engineering principles, design/build, and permitting processes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to coordinate resources and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite and PM tools
