Overview

As Lead Electrical Engineer in the Progeny Systems area, you steer the design and maintenance of electronics for advanced acoustic systems, including sonar transmission and sensor processing. You'll lead a cross-functional team, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical analyses from concept to life cycle maintenance. You'll work on high-impact hardware and signal processing challenges that shape next generation defense capabilities. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development in a mission-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Act as lead electrical engineer and mentor junior engineers
  • Lead technical analyses across concept, design, integration, and maintenance for electrical systems
  • Conduct requirements analysis, functional and performance analyses, and interface definitions
  • Generate and maintain electrical work products (plans, specs, schematics, drawings)
  • Prepare technical designs and trade studies for proposals and customer presentations
  • Perform planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability assessments for electrical elements
  • Design and analyze analog and digital electronics (power, conditioning, ADC, embedded processing, networking) for acoustic hydrophone systems
  • Perform hands-on integration, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of electrical hardware
  • Develop test criteria and assist in test system/software design
  • Prepare technical communications for program management and customers
  • Collaborate with development, system engineering, and production to identify and resolve hardware deficiencies
  • Track end-of-life issues and mitigate risk in new designs
  • Troubleshoot problems by identifying root causes and implementing solutions
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 8+ years of experience, or Master's with 6+ years of experience
  • Department of Defense Secret clearance obtainable within a reasonable time
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Strong background in multiple electrical disciplines (FPGA/embedded systems, ADCs, power electronics, analog conditioning, digital and network electronics)
  • Experience with requirements analysis, system/electrical design reviews, and deliverables
  • Experience with ECAD and simulation tools
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment and hands-on hardware work
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
