Scientist, Electrical Engineer - Digital Hardware Engineer

Overview

In this role you design, integrate, test, and troubleshoot digital hardware for advanced electronic systems. You'll work across development and production, solving complex hardware issues and performing RCCA. The position emphasizes hands-on debugging, failure analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll help improve reliability, manufacturability, and testability while aligning with the team's mission to deliver robust digital hardware solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design mixed-signal circuits including A/D, D/A, processors, I/O, and programmable logic (FPGA/CPLD).
  • Generate requirements, perform preliminary and detailed design, and create test plans for integration and test.
  • Design with DSPs, processors, microcontrollers, memory (DDRx, SRAM, ROM, Flash), and manage high-speed memory interfaces.
  • Work with HDI, Meg6, and back drilling board technologies; perform timing analysis and use schematic/PCB tools.
  • Independently develop digital CCA design solutions and troubleshoot issues during integration, test, and production.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support failure investigations across digital, mixed-signal, and embedded hardware.
  • Analyze interfaces, timing, signal integrity, power, and component interactions.
  • Collaborate with systems, firmware, software, manufacturing, and test teams to resolve problems.
  • Assist design improvements to enhance reliability, manufacturability, and testability.
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) + substantial relevant experience; multiple pathways outlined in ad.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design techniques and devices.
  • Hardware debugging skills with tools such as signal generators, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of high-speed memory and network interfaces and protocols is desirable.
  • Self-motivated with leadership potential to guide a design team.
  • Ability to work in a team and negotiate solutions across hardware/software/systems teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Security Clearance.
