Overview In this role you lead The Hartford's Middle & Large Property actuarial team, guiding loss ratio and portfolio performance for about $1B of property and inland marine business. You partner with product, underwriting, ERM, and other stakeholders to drive pricing, risk budgeting, and actionable insights. You'll oversee a small team, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and influence strategic decisions with a strong technical toolkit. Responsibilities- Own loss ratio planning for property and marine lines, including historical analysis and environment assessment
- Coordinate catastrophe risk budgeting across property lines with ERM and actuarial partners
- Oversee monitoring of loss and premium trends, AOI, and book management activities; provide actionable insights
- Partner with reinsurance team to evaluate and support treaties as needed
- Develop and enhance financial, pricing, and book management materials for quarterly leadership meetings
- Lead ad hoc and emerging-risk analyses, recommend pricing strategies, and communicate to cross-functional stakeholders
Key requirements- Minimum 5 years of property and casualty actuarial experience; property lines a plus
- FCAS preferred, but open to candidates with appropriate knowledge background
- Knowledge of actuarial pricing techniques
- High proficiency in Excel; Python/R/SQL experience preferred
