Overview In this role you will provide opto-mechanical modeling and prototype fabrication support for the Viewer Engineering team on the da Vinci system. You will perform hands-on modeling, experiments, and data collection to advance display and optical systems. You will collaborate with external partners to ensure high quality components and manufacturability. You will contribute to a mission-driven team that delivers precise visualization for safer, more human surgical care.

Responsibilities- Opto-mechanical modeling and prototype fabrication support for the Viewer Engineering team
- Hands-on modeling, experiments, and data compilation on key tests
- Provide technical assistance with outside development partners for custom components
- Support design decisions with data and empirical validation
- Contribute to strategic development of supply chain to enable project success
Key requirements- SolidWorks or equivalent CAD package
- Optical CAD experience ( Zemax or Code V ) and import into mechanical CAD
- Experience in opto-mechanical design for display systems
- Understanding of opto-mechanical tolerancing for displays and 3D display systems
- Knowledge of machine tools and fabrication techniques for precision fixtures
- Understanding of kinematic mounting of optics
- Experience in data acquisition for prototype validation
- Familiarity with 3D printing for quick-turn prototypes
- Knowledge of materials and properties for optical elements and mounting fixtures
