Overview

In this role you will serve as a senior expert in fire protection within a federal oversight context, contributing to the Agency's mission to ensure safe, compliant operations at nuclear facilities. You will support cross-cutting safety and security programs, develop and deliver training, and help evaluate contractor performance. You will work with a multidisciplinary engagement team to translate complex requirements into practical enforcement and risk-reduction actions. This is a high-impact position at the intersection of safety, compliance, and program management.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and report on performance of security and safety programs across federal and contractor organizations
  • Apply enforcement actions for non-compliance with legally enforceable requirements
  • Develop and deliver security and safety training reflecting best practices and lessons learned
  • Support cross-cutting activities for safeguards, cyber security, emergency management, and environment, health, and safety
  • Contribute to reports and presentations for management audiences
  • Assist in evaluating design, safety analysis, and operations for nuclear facilities
Key requirements
  • 15+ years of relevant commercial or government experience
  • At least 10 years in fire protection programs and systems at nuclear facilities
  • 5 years in conducting appraisals
  • Professional Engineer (Fire Protection) registration
  • Working knowledge of nuclear safety and regulatory oversight
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related tools
  • U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain Security Clearance
  • Excellent oral and written communication; ability to meet deadlines under pressure
