Staff Electrical Designer (Southwest Region)

Overview

In this role you will design electrical systems for a diverse project portfolio, producing schematics, grid layouts, power and lighting systems, and controls. You'll work within a project team to develop and revise drawings, ensure QA within scope, budget, and schedule, and communicate clearly with clients. The position emphasizes practical design work, adherence to standards, and continuous learning of design software. This is a hands-on role with impact on project delivery and documentation quality.

Responsibilities
  • Create electrical schematics, grid layouts, power and lighting systems
  • Develop production drawings and perform problem analysis on non-routine assignments
  • Apply design codes and project specifications to deliver compliant designs
  • Review drawings for quality assurance and align with budget and schedule
  • Compute conduit/grounding layouts, equipment, and relay schematic diagrams
  • Maintain revisions and organize plot files and project information
  • Prepare and refine design sketches and redlines on ongoing projects
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers in a multi-discipline team
  • Prepare clear written and verbal communications for client coordination
  • Support compliance with all policies and standards
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Drafting Technology or related field with 7 years related experience OR Associate's Degree with 8 years related experience OR 9 years progressive detailing and design experience
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel
  • Ability to work with 2D and 3D design applications to prepare engineering drawings
  • Strong knowledge of design, calculations, and systems; ability to learn new design software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage design issues across disciplines
