Sr. Energy Engineer

Overview

In this role you will develop energy, water, and greenhouse gas strategies for commercial real estate clients, helping to lead decarbonization initiatives. You will collaborate with the energy team, manage client engagements, and produce technical deliverables that communicate impact. The position offers growth in Cushman & Wakefield's ESG practice and opportunities to lead and mentor teams. You will work on high-impact projects that advance energy efficiency and sustainability across multiple markets.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development of energy-saving and emissions-reduction strategies for existing buildings
  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates for recommended measures
  • Perform ASHRAE Level I & II Energy Audits and support retro-commissioning
  • Provide consultation on climate control, energy modeling, data logging, building automation, lighting/daylighting, and sustainable design
  • Understand and apply city/state energy efficiency ordinances and requirements
  • Review architectural and MEP drawings; support incentives applications
  • Produce written technical and non-technical reports for compliance and client review
  • Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and manage project deliverables for quality, schedule, and budget
  • Participate in business development to grow the ESG practice and leadership
  • Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements
  • Experience developing decarbonization strategies (energy efficiency, renewables, RECs, carbon offsets) in commercial real estate
  • Strong data analysis in Excel and other platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to lead meetings
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective project management and prioritization in fast-paced environments
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong technical writing and report generation skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Willingness to travel up to 12 days per month
  • Bachelor in technical field with 5-8 years of related experience
  • Preferred: ABET-accredited degree, EIT/PE, CEM/CEA/BCxP, CRE-related CRE portfolio experience
