Overview In this role you will support NSWC Carderock by improving safety across offices, labs, and HAZMAT areas. You will partner with leadership to drive safety improvements, coordinate training, and ensure compliant safety practices for a large workforce. You will develop procedures, track training requirements, and manage response plans and PPE listings. The role offers a chance to contribute to national security while expanding your safety program expertise in a government setting.

Responsibilities- Conduct safety inspections of department spaces, labs, and HAZMAT lockers and prepare post-inspection reports
- Assist in correcting safety deficiencies and support supervisors in inspections
- Track and identify training requirements for 700-750 personnel (ESAMS, OJT, Web, medical surveillance)
- Develop internal and external SOPs and checklists for safety processes
- Collaborate with leadership to advise on safety improvements and distribute safety information
- Develop and maintain PPE Authorized Use List (AUL)
- Develop and manage the department's Spill Response Plan
- Participate in VPP meetings and maintain OSHA VPP certification
- Travel to Memphis, TN as needed ( 10%)
Key requirements- A.S. or B.S. in Environmental Health and Safety Management or similar field
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- 2-5 years of safety experience
- OSHA familiarity
