Overview As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the mechanical design and integration of the autonomous Prufrock machine, a massive tunneling system that advances rapid transit with minimal surface impact. You'll work within a cross-functional team to ensure scalable, compliant, and cost-efficient solutions. Your work shapes the machine's subsystems, from boring components to tunnel infrastructure, delivering measurable impact on project speed and safety. Responsibilities- Lead design of systems and sub-systems for the boring machine, support systems, vehicle integration, and tunnel infrastructure
- Serve as SME for mechanical design projects and mentor team members
- Apply hand calculations, FEA, and CAD to develop and communicate designs
- Own and communicate project schedules, flagging changes to stakeholders
- Assess system fit within the larger operation and align with future developments
- Ensure designs comply with MSHA, OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and Class 1 Division 2 requirements
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 6+ years in mechanical engineering roles or equivalent
- Hands-on hardware fabrication, assembly, or testing experience
- Strong teamwork and collaboration
