Overview In this role you will set the Washington technology policy editorial agenda and lead a team covering tech, Congress and federal policy. You will shape breaking news, enterprise stories and explain complex tech debates with authority. You will coordinate with POLITICO's global technology team to connect U.S. coverage with developments in Silicon Valley and Europe. This is an influential position at a fast-growing, impact-driven newsroom where you help define how decisions shape the tech-policy landscape.
Responsibilities- Set the editorial agenda for Washington technology policy coverage
- Edit a newsroom team covering tech policy, Congress, agencies, and corporate influence
- Shape breaking news, scoops, and high-impact enterprise
- Develop sources, sharpen reporting, and guide storytelling
- Explain complex technology and policy debates clearly and authoritatively
- Identify connections between U.S. policy fights and global tech centers
- Collaborate with editors/reporters across POLITICO's global tech team
- Edit stories for homepage, newsletters and POLITICO Pro with focus on immediacy and lasting impact
- Mentor reporters and contribute to the growth of POLITICO's tech coverage
Key requirements- Significant experience as an editor, reporter or journalist covering technology, politics or policy
- Deep knowledge of Washington politics and policy with strong tech industry understanding
- Exceptional news judgment and ability to identify consequential stories
- Track record of editing or producing breaking news, scoops and enterprise
- Strong network of sources in Washington, tech, government and private sector or demonstrated ability to build one
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a clean, authoritative voice
