Overview In this role you help deliver traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions across Connecticut, supporting project delivery from Hamden. You will work with cross-functional teams on diverse projects, oversee junior staff, and present findings to clients. The position emphasizes practical design, safety and efficiency improvements, and collaboration to shape regional mobility. Responsibilities- Develop traffic and transportation planning/engineering solutions within a professional team
- Conduct comprehensive traffic impact studies for multi-modal issues (vehicular, public transit, pedestrians, safety, parking)
- Perform traffic modeling to analyze and predict traffic flow
- Develop and evaluate traffic improvement plans to enhance safety and efficiency
- Design traffic signals and ITS components (EVP, TSP, ATCS)
- Design roadways and intersections meeting safety standards and capacity needs
- Prepare/review technical memoranda and reports; present findings and recommendations
- Participate in meetings with team, clients, and stakeholders to share ideas
- Manage small to mid-size projects or lead tasks, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
- Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and share knowledge with the team
Key requirements- 3-5 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- E.I.T. Certification or PE license or ability to obtain
- Experience with Connecticut/local municipalities preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Proven ability to prepare traffic impact analyses
- Working knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, PROWAG, HCM, ITE Trip Generation
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, and/or MicroStation; CTDOT Digital Design Environment a plus
- Familiarity with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, AutoTurn
- Knowledge of CT DOT guidelines and standards a plus
- MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); strong written and verbal communication
