Overview In this role you will own mechanical engineering tasks across the life cycle of air-launched effectors, guiding design, analysis and production support. You will act as a technical contact for complex hardware subsystems, collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure design integrity and manufacturability. You'll mentor junior engineers and lead small teams while driving improvements in DFMA, tolerances, and verification. This is a hands-on, onsite position in Tucson, focused on delivering reliable defense hardware for US government and international customers.

Responsibilities- Technical ownership of mechanical subsystem design and problem solving
- Document and analyze design data packages (TDP) and ensure requirement compliance
- Mentor junior engineers and lead small teams across functions
- Lead autonomous work on major hardware subsystems and coordinate with suppliers
- Mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and end items for defense systems
- Collaborate with factories and suppliers on new product integration and process improvements
- Perform tolerance analyses and ensure form, fit, and function per design
- Apply DFMA/Design for Producibility principles to improve designs
- Support production and first article inspections; conduct root-cause investigations on hardware issues
- Review manufacturing instructions and support MRB dispositions
Key requirements- University Degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years, or Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years
- Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Experience in CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D CAD software
- Leadership experience with small teams
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication
