Overview As Assistant Department Manager in the Grocery area, you support planning, staffing, training, and directing department associates to deliver prompt, courteous service. You help organize work, manage inventories, and ensure merchandising and pricing align with company standards. You prioritize safety, compliance, and a positive customer experience, acting as a bridge between associates and the Department Manager. You contribute to process improvements and programs that drive quality, efficiency, and store profitability. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to shape in-store operations and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Assist Department Manager with organizing work, staffing, training, and scheduling to maintain service levels
- Respond to customer or associate inquiries, complaints, and requests with tact and professionalism
- Utilize CAO to order appropriate merchandise and track receipts and stock on hand
- Direct pricing, display, signage, and product rotation to ensure quality and space utilization
- Mentor associates in merchandising, customer service, and promotional activities
- Implement company programs and ensure compliance with policies on dress code, sanitation, and harassment prevention
- Provide input on department budgets, goals, and results
- Maintain equipment, facilities, and grocery areas to sanitary standards
