Overview

In this role you will design high-precision, multi-cavity injection mold tooling and guide tooling changes from customer requirements in a fast-paced production environment. You will serve as the technical expert, coordinating with customers and internal teams to ensure drawings are accurate and fully conveys requirements. You'll manage multiple mold design projects, perform tolerance analysis, and support the end-to-end process from concept to release. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to influence tooling quality and project outcomes within a collaborative, cross-functional setting.

Responsibilities
  • Design high-precision, multi-cavity mold tools meeting specifications
  • Communicate with customers to understand needs, provide quotations, and present updates
  • Document requirements and address technical concerns with customers
  • Act as internal and external technical expert; support planning, manufacturing, assembly, quality, and production
  • Ensure drawings are accurate and error-free; coordinate design reviews
  • Sketch layouts and compute dimensions, tolerances, radii, clearances, and hole locations
  • Plan and organize engineering functions and projects; manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Evaluate design changes and approve releases; verify tolerance stack-ups
  • Use CAD/Drafting software to develop designs based on drawings and specifications
  • Follow document control systems for archiving and information exchange
  • Work from customer, company, and government drawings or specs
  • Possess strong self-checking and presentation skills
  • Apply mathematical concepts to design problems
Key requirements
  • 3-5 years of mold design and detailing experience
  • Degree or certificate from CAD training facility
  • Proficiency in CAD; computer literate; good with Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in teams
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to present to groups and customers
  • Ability to perform tolerance calculations and geometry/trigonometry
  • Ability to interpret varied instructions and solve problems with multiple variables
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environment and handle material handling tasks
