Overview

In this role you will design and integrate high-voltage battery components and enclosures, ensuring safety, reliability, and manufacturability. You will drive mechanical and electrical interface integrity, support production readiness, and collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to scale design to high-volume production. The position contributes to advancing safe, low-noise electric aircraft capable of carrying four passengers, aligning with Archer's mission of sustainable air mobility. Your work shapes robust HV systems in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical enclosures, mounts, and interfaces for high-voltage battery components to ensure structural integrity and manufacturability
  • Size power conductors, optimize insulation strategy, and define interconnect strategy
  • Select high voltage contactors and perform fuse coordination studies for safe power distribution
  • Support HV safety practices including creepage/clearance, shielding, and sealing considerations
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups, FEA simulations, and DFMEA to validate designs
  • Develop and release 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using NX
  • Manage prototype builds and validation testing; incorporate feedback into design iterations
  • Interface with manufacturing and supply chain to maintain design intent through production
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years mechanical design experience
  • Experience with HV systems and electric powertrains (bonus: hybrid)
  • CAD/NX experience preferred; solid background in tolerance, GD&T
  • Experience through product development from concept to high-volume production
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as laser welding, stamping, composites, adhesives, brazing, ultrasonic welding, fastening
  • Familiar with UN38.3, IEC, UL, and ISO HV battery standards
