Job description

Overview

In this role you serve as the Owner Safety Representative for utility-scale solar and BESS projects across Virginia. You safeguard the owner's interests by reviewing safety programs and conducting regular inspections and audits throughout construction. You collaborate with owners, EPC teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure OSHA compliance and safety performance. The position is field-focused, with time spent on-site and periodic site rotations to support multiple projects. You drive proactive safety culture and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as Owner Safety Representative for solar and BESS construction
  • Monitor safety performance to ensure OSHA and project requirements
  • Conduct routine field observations, audits, and inspections
  • Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions with contractors
  • Document observations, findings, and corrective actions
  • Cite applicable OSHA construction standards in field situations
  • Support enforcement of safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in safety meetings, incident reviews, and planning discussions
  • Assist in incident investigations and lessons learned communication
  • Utilize digital tools and reporting platforms for field documentation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote safety culture and improvement
  • Use iPhone/iOS apps to complete field reports and SiteDocs for weekly reports/ audits
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Construction Management, or related field OR CHST OR OSHA 500 certification
  • Minimum five years of safety experience in construction
  • Knowledge of OSHA construction standards and ability to reference them
  • Strong computer and digital reporting skills
  • Experience with Apple/iOS field documentation apps
  • Ability to work in active construction environments
  • Willingness to travel and rotate to Virginia sites every 6-12 months
