Overview In this role you lead the plant's operations and maintenance activities to ensure safety, reliability, and profitability. You work closely with the Plant Manager to drive high performance across programs like outage management, asset integrity, and financial oversight. You will shape a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and accountable teamwork while managing regulatory compliance and budget execution. Responsibilities- Oversee mission-critical programs and processes (performance management, outage management, project management, asset integrity, financial management)
- Maintain high plant reliability and cost competitiveness without compromising safety or environment
- Promote safety and environmental programs and ensure regulatory compliance
- Ensure employee, contractor, and visitor safety throughout the facility
- Interface with regulators, political, business, civic, and public representatives as directed
- Ensure compliance with NERC and WECC standards including self-certifications and audits
- Assist in developing and administering O&M and Capital budgets
- Produce required reports and respond to plant trips and upsets
- Foster an organizational culture of involvement, innovation, adaptability, risk-aware thinking, and continuous improvement
- Provide leadership and clear direction to achieve performance goals
- Oversee inventory management and procurement activities
- Devise and implement profit-improvement projects
- Support corporate business development and other plants with technical expertise
- Collaborate with Budget Analyst and managers on O&M and Capital plans
- Occasional travel; perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field; 7+ years in power generation or equivalent experience
- Second-line supervisory experience (e.g., Assistant Plant Manager, O&M Manager, O&M Supervisor) preferred
- Knowledge of gas turbine and electrical generator operation and maintenance
- Strong conduct and integrity standards
- Ability to lead, coach, and foster positive employee relations
- Excellent writing and presentation skills; persuasive verbal communication
- Strong planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing capabilities
- Ability to read control diagrams, P&IDs, and other technical plant materials
- Understanding of competitive business practices and decision-making
- Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
- Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other programs
- Ability to follow instructions and exercise sound judgment
- Technical expertise in relevant regulatory standards and environmental regulations
