Overview

In this role you support refinery operations and process engineering efforts to enhance product quality and efficiency. You'll work with operations, project engineering, and safety teams to monitor unit performance, optimize processes, and assist with small capital projects. You'll engage with vendors, drafting, and outside consultants to ensure timely design, bidding, and implementation. The position offers hands-on technical problem solving in a safety-conscious, collaborative environment with a focus on reliability and operating excellence. This is a chance to contribute to refinery productivity and process safety within a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and troubleshoot assigned refinery units to optimize performance and meet specifications
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, and drafting on small capital project scopes
  • Provide data and drawings to vendors and Project Engineering for expansion or bid packages
  • Support Process Catalysts and Chemicals bidding and vendor information exchanges
  • Assist in planning unit shutdowns and startups; administer performance test runs as needed
  • Gather lab and operation data for Project Engineering and outside vendors
  • Coordinate with TDC/APC control system for improved monitoring
  • Contribute to Process Safety Management activities such as MOC and PHA
  • Prepare regular progress reports to supervisor
  • Participate in incident investigations as a team member or lead
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Chemical Engineering (or related engineering field)
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • College engineering internship or oil/refinery internship preferred
  • Knowledge of economic principles, project management, and customer service
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel)
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and address mechanical issues
  • Familiarity with Process Modeling Software preferred
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Strong priority setting, organizational agility, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
