Overview

In this Senior Mechanical Engineer role at NREC, you will lead and contribute to the design, fabrication, and testing of electromechanical robotic systems. You will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to advance innovative solutions for industrial, commercial, and government applications. You'll tackle modeling, prototyping, and field testing to deliver robust subsystems and deployable robotics. This position offers leadership opportunities and impact across multiple projects within a cutting-edge robotics ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Research, design, develop, and test electromechanical robotic systems
  • Apply the engineering design process from concept to prototype validation
  • Model, analyze, and simulate electromechanical systems
  • Lead design efforts for electromechanical subsystems
  • Support junior engineers
  • Create CAD models and drawings for electromechanical assemblies
  • Perform light fabrication, assembly, and integration of subsystems
  • Plan and execute electromechanical system tests
  • Document analyses and test results
  • Travel to support field experiments and off-site tests
  • Other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor/Master/Doctorate in engineering or related field, or >6 years of related engineering experience
  • Experience with developing complex mechanical systems
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, public speaking, and analytical skills
  • Independent judgment and problem-solving abilities
  • 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Ability to interact with a diverse set of internal and external partners
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
