Overview In this role you will deliver precise risk evaluations for high-risk occupancies to support profitable underwriting. You work with HSB and Munich Re underwriters and apply engineering expertise to assess design, condition, operations, and human factors. You will lead loss control activities, recommend improvements, and conduct site visits to quantify risk and impact. You collaborate with insureds in a consultative way to implement safety enhancements. This position offers meaningful scope to shape risk management across challenging industries.
Responsibilities- Assess risk for high value occupancies via site visits and data analysis
- Plan and oversee loss control activities to reduce underwriting exposures
- Provide consultative risk control engineering services and recommendations
- Collaborate with underwriters and insureds to implement risk-reducing measures
- Evaluate design, condition, operations, maintenance, and human factors to determine risk
- Communicate findings clearly through reports and presentations
- Prioritize and manage multiple risk evaluation projects
- Support knowledge transfer and training activities as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor in Engineering or related discipline; 10+ years in high value/risk occupancy industries, boiler inspection, or insurance engineering
- Deep knowledge of at least one high risk occupancy (e.g., power generation, metals, mining, pulp & paper, sugar, glass)
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to work with limited supervision and handle competing priorities
- Understanding of the insurance industry and underwriting terminology
