Overview

In this role you will lead NorthStar Energy's accounting and shared services, ensuring accurate financial reporting and robust controls across multiple operating companies. You will partner with the CFO to optimize policies, governance, and reporting while driving process improvements and team development. The position blends hands-on accounting operations with strategic rollout of a shared services roadmap in a growth-oriented energy environment. Onsite in Seattle with a Monday-Thursday in-office schedule and remote Fridays.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee monthly close and consolidation for NorthStar and affiliated entities
  • Direct shared services functions: credit, collections, billing, cash applications, A/P, taxes, inventory, fixed assets
  • Oversee annual audits and financial statement prep
  • Implement and monitor internal controls and compliance with Saltchuk policies
  • Drive productivity and capability through training and development
  • Develop and execute an accounting and shared services improvement roadmap
  • Provide policy leadership in accounting
  • Manage bank accounts and treasury services
  • Support M&A activities including quality of earnings and post-acquisition integration
  • Oversee goodwill valuation process
  • Mentor and develop the accounting team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's in Accounting
  • 10+ years in public accounting or corporate accounting with progression
  • Strong GAAP knowledge
  • ERP systems experience; experience with PDI Enterprise preferred
  • Experience implementing systems and scaling accounting functions
  • Experience with commodity accounting, derivatives, hedge accounting preferred
  • Inventory-intensive industry experience preferred
  • Experience with external auditors and tax advisors; acquisitions and post-close integration
  • Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • MS Office proficiency
