Tax Senior Manager, M&A Real Estate

Overview

In this role you support KPMG's Business Tax Services by structuring tax aspects of multinational private equity real estate investments and related activities. You will work with cross functional teams to assess tax implications, draft opinions and memos, and develop tax structures supported by models. The position offers exposure to global teams and the Ignition Centers, enabling innovative tax solutions for high profile clients. You will lead multiple engagements, oversee risk management, and contribute to the growth of the tax practice. This is a chance to shape complex tax strategies in a collaborative, client focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Structure tax aspects of multinational private equity real estate investments (M&A, joint ventures, dispositions, IPOs)
  • Draft tax opinions, memos, structure decks, and Excel models illustrating tax benefits
  • Assess tax impact of rules and changes; develop tax arguments and client recommendations
  • Collaborate with Washington National Tax, M&A Tax, and global KPMG teams
  • Review memos and opinions; prepare structuring papers; manage funds flow and documentation
  • Balance and lead multiple engagements; supervise and train staff; maintain client service quality
  • Oversee engagement processes and risk management; lead teams of tax professionals
  • Senior Manager-specific: manage risk and financial performance (billing, collections, budgets); identify new marketplace opportunities and grow the tax practice
Key requirements
  • Five years of experience on engagements involving partnerships, M&A, and/or federal tax planning at law or accounting firms
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; CPA/EA/JD/LLM or equivalent approved credential
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements and service teams in alternative investment funds (private equity, real estate, hedge funds)
  • Proficiency in taxation of partnerships and tiered investment fund structures; knowledge of domestic and international tax law
  • Ability to develop and deepen client relationships across US and non US KPMG teams; strong writing and communication skills
  • Senior Manager: eight years of relevant experience
