Overview In this role you will support a local transit project office by managing the construction claims program for a rail initiative. You'll guide risk, evaluation, and documentation efforts, advising project management on prevention and resolution. You'll handle contracts and cost/schedule analysis, and coordinate with experts for complex issues and dispute processes. You'll work within HDR's employee-owned, collaborative culture to drive safer, more efficient transportation outcomes. This position offers the chance to shape claims strategy across a critical transit program and advance HDR's mission to improve mobility and communities.
Responsibilities- Oversee the local rail program's construction claims with focus on avoidance, identification, evaluation, documentation, mitigation, resolution, and litigation planning.
- Advise client project management on claims prevention, defense, and resolution strategies.
- Draft correspondence and documents supporting the claims position for contractor or client assertions.
- Manage escalation-driven contracts, including cost and schedule analysis and mediation preparation.
- Interface with subject matter experts on delays, damages, and time impact analyses.
- Supervise claims submitted to alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Assist the Contracting Officer with final written determinations and other claims support.
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Minimum 5 years of related experience
- Proficient internet research and document handling
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Visio skills
- Expert Microsoft Access and Excel skills
- Analytical ability to compile and present summary information
- Ability to cleanse, merge and analyze data from multiple sources
