Overview

Arcadis seeks a mid- to senior-level Archaeologist/Cultural Resources Specialist in the Northeast. As Principal Investigator, you will oversee cultural resources work, mentor junior staff, and ensure QA across projects. You'll lead field assessments, manage field crews, and guide projects from planning through reporting. The role requires New York and New Jersey experience with federal and state regulatory knowledge and travel up to 40%. You join a multidisciplinary environmental team delivering sustainable permitting-driven solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Act as Principal Investigator for Northeast U.S. cultural resources projects
  • Supervise field crews and subcontractors
  • Provide training, technical direction, and mentoring for junior staff
  • Plan and manage investigations from Phase I to Phase III and monitoring
  • Prepare technical analyses and project documents; perform QA reviews
  • Conduct fieldwork, including GPS-based work, and manage field logistics
  • Interact with project/program managers within an interdisciplinary team
Key requirements
  • Meets Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards in archaeology
  • Master's degree in archaeology or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of cultural resources management experience
  • Knowledge of Pre-Contact, Historic, and Industrial Archaeology with urban/industrial site experience
  • Experience with Section 106 NHPA, and supervising field crews
  • Experience completing investigations from planning to final report
