Overview

In this role you drive protection and control design for high-voltage substations, delivering code-compliant, reliable solutions. You will mentor junior engineers and work with clients and cross-functional teams to enable project success from concept to construction. You handle complex protection schemes, relay settings, and associated documentation to meet quality and safety standards. Responsibilities
  • Design substation protection and control systems following codes and client standards
  • Create diagrams (one-line, three-line), schematics, wiring, interconnection, and SCADA-related documentation
  • Develop relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and associated calculations
  • Prepare equipment specs, design scope, and cost estimates for engineered equipment
  • Develop conceptual protection and control designs for new and existing facilities
  • Produce support documentation for procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors
  • Lead and participate in client meetings and site visits to gather data and present solutions
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance and technical review of design packages
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, reviewing calculations, drawings, and specifications
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited institution
  • 10+ years of experience in substation protection & control design
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong document management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication and client/stakeholder interaction
