Overview In this role you drive the validation of Fluence's BESS hardware, software, and system-level performance. You will develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, push for automation, and lead a globally distributed test engineering effort. Collaborating with R&D, product, and manufacturing, you'll implement advanced testing technologies like HIL and digital twins to ensure reliability and safety. This role offers impact across sites worldwide and a path to scale the testing organization.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute test strategies for BESS hardware, software, component and system-level validation
- Create test methods aligned with engineering specs and four-corner testing
- Drive test automation to streamline validation processes
- Manage global testing initiatives assessing performance, reliability, safety, and environmental durability
- Collaborate with technical director on lab infrastructure and Advanced testing technologies (HIL, digital twins)
- Expand and lead a global test engineering team across multiple sites
- Mentor and train engineers and technicians to meet validation objectives
- Promote cross-functional collaboration with R&D, product, and manufacturing
- Establish KPIs for validation programs and report progress
- Foster continuous improvement of testing methodologies
- Promote a culture of innovation, quality, accountability, and professional growth
Key requirements- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or related field
- Proven leadership experience with cross-functional teams
- Strong program management with scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
- Analytical mindset with risk identification and optimization focus
- PMP certification or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience in energy storage system commissioning and troubleshooting a plus
