Overview

In this role you lead optomechanical architecture for new products and sustaining efforts, working with cross functional teams to deliver precise, reliable, and manufacturable solutions. You guide complex module development, influence long term roadmaps, and ensure products stay serviceable and scalable. You'll mentor engineers, drive improvements, and partner with suppliers and manufacturing to meet customer needs. This is a strategic, technical leadership role shaping the future of precision engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the specification, architecture, design, integration, and validation of complex optomechanical modules and subsystems for new and existing platforms
  • Develop technology roadmaps and guide feasibility studies and sustaining strategies
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams through concept development, detailed design, testing, production introduction, release, and ongoing product support
  • Design mechanical and optomechanical parts, assemblies, fixtures, and alignment solutions
  • Perform tolerance analysis, finite element analysis, and system level troubleshooting
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for production, field, and customer issues
  • Develop and implement design improvements to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, safety, and cost
  • Support engineering change requests, obsolescence management, configuration control, and lifecycle planning
  • Use performance data, manufacturing feedback, service insights, and customer needs to identify improvements and mitigate risk
  • Partner with suppliers, manufacturing, service, quality, and supply chain to support prototypes, fabrication, testing, and production continuity
  • Provide technical leadership for new technology introductions, product upgrades, and retrofit solutions
  • Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and challenge conventional approaches to drive innovation and improvement
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 10-15 years of relevant engineering experience including advanced mechanical design and product lifecycle responsibilities
  • Master's or doctoral degree preferred
  • Experience designing machined, sheet metal, molded, additive, and flexure components and assemblies
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and detailed drawings; PTC Creo preferred
  • GD&T, tolerance analysis, documentation control, and engineering change processes
  • Finite element analysis for structural, thermal, vibration, or fluid dynamics applications
  • Experience supporting released products through troubleshooting and obsolescence management
  • Experience working with suppliers, fabricators, manufacturing, quality, service, and supply chain
  • Familiarity with industrial laser systems, optomechanical systems, or semiconductor manufacturing equipment preferred
