Overview

In this role you will guide product and process development from concept through production, owning design, testing, and manufacturing controls. You will lead prototype fabrication, refine components to meet specifications, and document product histories. You'll drive improvements in production methods and equipment while collaborating with customers and internal teams. This position offers hands-on problem solving and opportunities to impact product performance and cost savings in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, test, and engineer production for one or more projects with responsibility for routine to moderately complex work
  • Fabricate or supervise prototype model fabrication for testing
  • Redesign components to meet performance specs after testing
  • Provide final sketches to drafting for incorporation into final drawings
  • Maintain product history documentation for design and production
  • Recommend equipment improvements and participate in cost-saving efforts
  • Design simple to moderately complex test jigs, fixtures, and tools
  • Oversee line checkout of new equipment
  • Consult on troubleshooting prototype or production equipment
  • Investigate production and process problems and implement practical solutions
  • Interact with customers on product design, materials, and manufacturing capabilities
  • Reevaluate and redesign products to meet evolving requirements
  • Travel to address customer problems or field issues (as needed)
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 3-5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (desirable)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to translate ideas into usable specs
