Overview

As Production/Operations Supervisor, you will oversee all production activities, coordinating with Engineering, QA, and Logistics to ensure drawings, materials, and QA requirements meet codes. You will leverage extensive welding and fabrication know-how to drive equipment assembly for the growing alternative fuel market. You'll plan fabrication schedules, manage staffing, and ensure a safe, efficient shop environment. This role offers impact by shaping production processes in a fast-evolving energy domain.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise production operations and floor activities; coordinate with Engineering, QA, and Logistics to ensure drawings, materials, and QA requirements meet code standards
  • Direct staffing, hiring decisions, and discipline actions for production personnel
  • Ensure a safe work environment and enforce safety policies
  • Plan and coordinate fabrication schedules with shop leads
  • Resolve production time, scope, and turf conflicts; decide on shift and overtime needs
  • Review and ensure availability of materials required for each project
  • Review drawings and address issues with Engineering and QA
  • Coordinate with QA Supervisor/Inspector on QA requirements and NDT inspections as per codes
  • Prepare and submit capital expenditure proposals
  • Manage physical plant and department security
  • Establish workflow, make/buy decisions, and work-rule policies
  • Provide production operation reports to General Management and information for rate and cash flow projections
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering; ten years of industrial/manufacturing management experience; welding shop fabrication and equipment assembly experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Process Piping and Pressure Vessel requirements
  • Complete understanding of P&ID and fabrication drawings
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost management
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; cost-benefit analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate teams and manage in a noisy, dusty, hot shop environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
