Overview In this role you will design, develop and test electrical components and circuitry for Williams Controls, applying electrical engineering principles to achieve product goals. You will work with cross-functional teams to support NPI and existing products, ensuring EMC compliance and high reliability. The position emphasizes practical problem solving, vendor assessment, and developing testing hardware/software for manufacturing and product development. Responsibilities- Determine design approaches and parameters for electrical systems
- Analyze equipment, run tests, and evaluate results to establish operating data
- Select components based on specifications and reliability analyses
- Review vendor capabilities to support product development
- Lead NPI for electronic circuitry, PCB layout and related design activities
- Ensure design and procurement meet NPI deadlines and quality/regulatory standards
- Troubleshoot and debug interface circuits for customer applications to minimize production disruption
- Oversee EMC reviews to ensure equipment can operate in intended applications
- Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve production and development issues
- Develop testing hardware and software to support manufacturing and new product development
- Interface with Manufacturing Engineers on NPI, PCB and EMC requirements
- Proficiency in design, development and testing of electrical components and machinery
- Conduct root cause and worst-case analyses to improve reliability
- Maintain customer-focused communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Plan and organize work to operate under pressure and meet deadlines
- Collaborate with teams to drive continuous improvement and problem resolution
Key requirements- Proficiency in designing, developing and testing electrical components and systems
- Ability to make decisions based on established rules or procedures
- Proficiency with CAD circuit design software and circuit simulation tools (Altium a plus)
- Experience with electrical equipment testing (voltmeter, oscilloscope, power supply, etc.) and EMC design
- Experience with Design and Process FMEAs; root cause and worst-case analysis
- Strong customer-focused mindset and excellent communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Altium, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Bachelors' Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment (auto or commercial vehicle industry preferred)
