Overview As a Professional Land Surveyor 1, you will lead and coordinate surveys for state land, acquisitions, and boundary defense, collaborating with in-house teams and consultants. You will support land managers and legal processes, maintaining boundary records and conservation easements. The role blends surveying expertise with real estate program support, under NY HELPS during the transition period. You'll work across fields to enable accurate land ownership and enforce boundaries in challenging terrains.

Responsibilities- Direct, coordinate, and complete administrative and/or acquisition-related surveys (in-house or via contractors)
- Prepare materials for land acquisitions, title inquiries, and defense of state land boundaries
- Support Regional staff, DEC Office of General Counsel, and Attorney General in trespass enforcement actions
- Collaborate with forestry, wildlife, fisheries, and other land managers to maintain boundary lines and ownership records
- Assist with administration of conservation easements
- Respond to real estate program needs as a senior land surveyor
Key requirements- New York State Land Surveyor's license and current registration
- For NY HELPS: either one year of service as an Assistant Land Surveyor (non-competitive) or open competitive eligibility with license and registration
