Tax Senior Manager - SALT Indirect

Overview

As a Senior Manager in SALT, you will lead indirect tax engagements for a diverse client base, from Fortune 500 to startups. You shape tax strategy on sales/use taxes, nexus analyses, and VDAs while monitoring regulatory changes. You'll drive business development and mentor junior staff, delivering practical tax solutions and strong client relationships. This role sits at the heart of a growth-focused, collaborative firm that values development and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage complex indirect tax engagements (sales/use tax, audits, controversy, refunds)
  • Oversee nexus determinations, taxability analyses, and voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs)
  • Determine and analyze sales/use tax liabilities across multi-state/local jurisdictions
  • Advise clients on indirect tax implications of operations, transactions, and supply chain decisions
  • Monitor and interpret legislative/regulatory developments; communicate implications to clients
  • Engage in business development (proposals, webinars, cross-service line collaboration)
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation in indirect tax compliance
  • Research complex tax issues and prepare technical memoranda and client deliverables
  • Maintain strong client relationships; manage expectations and deadlines
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate Seniors and Associates
Key requirements
  • 6+ years relevant work experience in an accounting firm
  • Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Advanced credential allowing for client representation before the IRS (CPA or JD)
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
