Overview

In this role you maintain and reconcile the Credit Union's general ledger and subsidiary accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and GAAP. You generate management and regulatory reports and support month-end and quarter-end closes to produce timely financial statements. You assist across departments with accounting entries, budgeting, and financial analysis while handling accounts payable and cash management tasks. You work independently and as part of a team, upholding integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment in a community-focused financial institution.

Responsibilities
  • Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
  • Prepare management and regulatory reports
  • Post journal entries and process receivables
  • Manage accounts payable including invoice routing and vendor payments
  • Monitor cash supply and assist with investment processes
  • Administer wire transfer system and review wires
  • Provide accounting guidance to other departments
  • Maintain awareness of laws, regulations and BSA responsibilities
  • Prepare income and balance sheet statements and assist with budgets
  • Coordinate accounting matters with other departments and locations
  • Conduct special studies and projects
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Lead by example with ethics and integrity
  • Assist with fixed asset reconciliation and inventory
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with emphasis in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-3 years of related experience; banking/credit union experience preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office and basic PC software
  • Experience with general ledger, accounts payable, and financial reporting
  • Ability to travel for training and objectives
  • Experience in a financial services or credit union environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • General ledger reconciliation
  • Month-end and quarter-end closing
  • Journal entries and accounts payable processing
