General Construction Superintendent (Healthcare/Higher Ed)

Overview

In this General Superintendent role, you lead the field on a large project, guiding a team of superintendents to meet safety, schedule, budget, and quality goals while delivering customer satisfaction. You will coordinate trade contractors, manage general conditions costs, and ensure adherence to contract documents. The position sits within a project team focused on safe, efficient delivery and strong field leadership. You'll drive project plans, contingency measures, and proactive problem solving to keep work on track. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role with a clear focus on safety culture and reliable delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day field activities across trade contractors to ensure high-quality work aligned with schedule
  • Manage project budget for general conditions and site services
  • Develop and communicate field work plans and changes
  • Monitor contract documents to anticipate problems and plan ahead
  • Ensure permits are obtained for construction
  • Enforce safety policies and act as primary safety representative on site
  • Plan and manage work-arounds, shutdowns, and tie-ins
  • Establish credibility with owners, contractors, unions through fair leadership
  • Lead contractor meetings and oversee field reporting via Procore
  • Create, update, and manage the project schedule and contingency plans
  • Manage jobsite logistics and quality plan implementation
  • Resolve jurisdictional disputes and forecast cost of work
  • Prepare and train direct reports; manage workload and performance
  • Foster a positive, inclusive team environment and communicate strategy
Key requirements
  • 8-15 years of experience on large commercial/industrial construction projects or multiple superintendent roles
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Team-oriented with ability to supervise a project team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Procore
  • Knowledge of construction documentation, drawing, and all construction phases
  • Strong safety process knowledge and ability to enforce safety plans
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Healthcare and/or higher education experience preferred
