Overview In this role, you will advance computational design and automation within Stantec's Design Computing team to support the Buildings practice. You'll identify opportunities, prototype workflows, and collaborate with engineers, architects, and IT to translate project needs into scalable BIM-enabled tools. You'll balance innovation with reliability while helping standardize firmwide workflows. This is a hands-on role that blends design intent with digital delivery to improve project outcomes at scale.

Responsibilities- Apply computational methods to technically complex projects such as data centers and advanced manufacturing.
- Develop parametric and data-driven workflows linking geometry, program, and performance criteria.
- Support early design exploration and option studies using practical computational methods.
- Collaborate across disciplines to improve coordination and reduce manual rework.
- Translate project challenges into reusable automation patterns for future projects.
- Identify high-value automation opportunities in team discussions.
- Build Revit-based automations using Dynamo, Rhino.Inside.Revit, Grasshopper, Python, C#, and the Revit API.
- Automate repetitive design, analysis, QA/QC, and data-management tasks to enhance speed and reliability.
- Prototype, test, and document proofs of concept; transition successful tools to scalable firmwide workflows.
- Ensure automations are maintainable, standards-aligned, and ready for handoff when appropriate.
Key requirements- Advanced expertise in Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, Dynamo, Rhino.Inside.Revit, Speckle, the Revit API, and custom components.
- Experience with BIM-integrated computational workflows and project-ready automation.
- 3+ years applying computational design to data centers, industrial facilities, or mission-critical projects.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, C#, JavaScript) with emphasis on reliability and usability.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools for prototyping and extending workflows while maintaining quality.
- Ability to translate multidisciplinary requirements into actionable computational frameworks.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical system coordination and fast-track delivery environments.
- Engineering background or experience with engineering teams is a plus, especially in electrical/mechanical systems.
- Experience mentoring teams in computational design methods.
