Overview

Senior Accountant at Gilbane supports project accounting and financial forecasting for multiple projects, interfacing with project teams, clients, and subcontractors. You work within the accounting team to ensure accurate forecasts, WIP processes, and financial closeouts, contributing to safe, on-time project delivery. This mid-level role offers growth in title, compensation, and responsibilities within a collaborative, values-driven culture. Responsibilities
  • Manage contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, files, and co-policies
  • Review requisitions and lien waivers for timeliness and accuracy
  • Set up and format project financial forecasts for internal and client reporting
  • Lead monthly project forecast meetings and maintain ETCs for labor and expenses
  • Evaluate change management for reporting inconsistencies
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payables to ensure timeliness
  • Manage project financial closeout process
  • Build and maintain professional relationships internally and externally
  • Coach and mentor junior team members
  • Understand cost proposals and various contract types/delivery methods
  • Assist with monthly Work in Process (WIP) process
  • Oversee one accountant when needed
  • Act as Independent Accountant during project forecast meetings to mitigate risk
  • Supervise interns
  • Support a positive and inclusive work environment
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 6-10 years of experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to learn construction management and payment management software
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cost control, schedule, profitability in construction
  • Ability to communicate clearly and inclusively
  • Problem-solving, adaptability, ownership and accountability
