Overview

As a Civil Engineer - Land Development you will work on a range of mid-sized projects both independently and as part of a larger team. You'll evaluate and engineer civil systems, develop designs through sketches and 3D models, and guide projects with standard software tools. The role emphasizes reliability, resource efficiency, and cost-conscious solutions within a collaborative environment. You will engage with clients, coordinate with consultants and contractors, and contribute to design standards that support resilient, livable communities.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and engineer civil systems for projects
  • Develop designs via sketches, models, and diagrams
  • Create 3D models and provide markups for junior staff
  • Prepare site plans, diagrams, and details across civil phases
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in client requirements discussions and basic cost estimating
  • Assist in scoping, budgeting, staffing, and scheduling
  • Prepare and coordinate project specifications with construction documents
  • Perform calculations with standard and manufacturer software
  • Utilize advanced techniques for specialized civil elements
  • Participate in constructability reviews and QA/QC on own projects
  • Contribute to development of new civil group standards and specifications
  • Manage multiple projects
Key requirements
  • National Civil Code and energy codes knowledge
  • Understanding of project document production and relationships between drawings and specs
  • Strong knowledge of civil systems, materials, and industry standards
  • Ability to discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies
  • Excellent time-management and scheduling skills
  • Ability to check others' work for accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to lead teams
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Presentation and interview skills preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, HydroCAD)
