Overview

As Research Program Director, you will lead administrative, operational, and business oversight for department research initiatives. You will partner with Principal Investigators, community partners, and scientists to guide grant reviews, clinical trial planning, budgets, and HR functions, ensuring projects meet community needs. You will drive dissemination of findings to underserved populations and maintain quality improvements across research operations. This role offers the opportunity to shape research programs, promote health equity, and collaborate across a large, mission-driven health system.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee research project administration, budgets, staffing, contracts, and HR activities
  • Coordinate grant preparation, IRB paperwork, and compliance with policies and regulations
  • Foster collaboration with care teams, community partners, and academic groups for program development
  • Integrate community feedback into planning and execution of research
  • Set goals for ongoing projects aligned with organizational policies and health equity focus
  • Lead dissemination of research outcomes in plain language to community stakeholders
  • Manage risk, quality improvement activities, and timely communication across teams
  • Direct Community Scientist Training and Mentorship, including recruitment, training, and career development
  • Develop and maintain systems supporting efficient clinical operations
  • Ensure plain-language communication of findings and accessible dissemination timelines
  • Perform other related duties
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (Masters strongly preferred)
  • 7 years hospital/medical environment experience
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Experience in community-engaged research and bidirectionality preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to motivate, develop and coach individuals
  • Ability to build and sustain partnerships with community organizations
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Commitment to health equity and community health disparities awareness
