Overview In this role you help safeguard hydropower facilities by delivering dam safety analyses, design options, and inspection support within HDR's multidisciplinary Hydropower Practice. You'll work on critical projects across the U.S. and Canada, collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentors to implement safe, cost-effective solutions. Responsibilities- Support inspections and assessments of existing dams and water retaining structures
- Perform analyses, evaluations and designs with supporting calculations
- Prepare contract documents including drawings, specs, criteria, and cost estimates for hydraulic structures
- Tackle engineering tasks requiring creative, code-limited solutions
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on hydropower, pumped-storage, and dam safety projects
- Act as project engineer with QA/QC supervision and mentoring of staff
- Participate in risk assessments for dams and hydraulic structures
- Travel as required for inspections or meetings
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7 years related experience in Geotechnical, Geological, Civil/Structural, Hydrology & Hydraulics, or Mechanical engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum 2 years project management experience
- MS Office and MS Project proficiency
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Willingness to travel for inspections and meetings
