Overview

As Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team to optimize fixtures for manufacturability, cost, and on-time delivery. You'll drive product development, continuous improvement, and collaboration across Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to support growth. You'll translate customer needs into manufacturable solutions and oversee lifecycle data like BOMs and CAD systems. This role combines leadership, technical depth, and a focus on efficiency and profitability in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team (Design Engineers, Estimators, Project Managers)
  • Drive optimization of fixture designs to meet customer, manufacturability, and cost targets
  • Oversee product development and continuous improvement for proprietary lines
  • Translate customer requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions
  • Maintain BOM accuracy and CAD/Vault data integrity
  • Collaborate with Sales, Production, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure project success from concept to production
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and transition projects into manufacturing
  • Conduct project reviews with leadership on progress, risks, timelines, and resources
  • Ensure designs meet fit, form, function, tolerances, material choice, safety, and cost
  • Lead continuous improvement of engineering processes and efficiency
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in wood, metal, or mixed-material manufacturing environments
  • Previous leadership experience managing engineers, estimators, project managers, or technical teams
  • Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor and Vault preferred)
  • Experience developing/maintaining BOMs and ERP/PDM systems
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes for multiple materials
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
