Overview In this role you will act as the technical authority for how, where, and when our shop orders are manufactured, leveraging OEM specs and hands-on experience to ensure feasible, cost-effective production. You will lead enterprise-wide knowledge of equipment and process capability, guiding decisions across six branches and aligning with the company's manufacturing goals. Responsibilities- Serve as final technical authority on manufacturability to determine in-house fabrication feasibility before quoting or declining work
- Act as the application engineering escalation point to find buildable paths and equip Sales to convert inquiries into sales
- Train Project Managers across locations to make standard manufacturability decisions independently
- Assist with scheduling by guiding how schedules are generated and maintained across all branches
- Identify and justify tooling and capital investments to expand in-house capability
- Build business plans for near-term opportunities requiring additional tooling or equipment
- Manage engineering projects (machine installations, software deployments, major process enhancements) from planning through completion
- Configure and maintain ERP functionality across the enterprise and document system logic for scheduling and routing
- Direct Compliance Management, CAD Services, and Quality Assurance functions and own regulatory engineering aspects
- Promote Lean, monitor quality and safety issues, drive corrective actions, and ensure staff training and development
- Mentor staff, resolve disagreements with leadership through escalation as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor in Engineering or ten years of related metal fabricating experience or equivalent
- Experience with ERP or production-scheduling systems
- Lean Manufacturing expertise with tools such as 5S visual controls and root cause analysis
- Project management experience leading equipment installations or software deployments
- Familiarity with CAD; experience in metal forming and welding
- Experience in Commercial Construction Building Products, notably aluminum windows, doors, skylights, curtain walls, and storefronts (big plus)
