Overview

In this role you lead the Autonomy Capabilities team to deliver core autonomy for multi-agent platforms. You shape system architecture and drive technical decisions while mentoring engineers across design, integration, and field deployment. You collaborate with cross-functional groups and defense customers to translate requirements into robust autonomy capabilities. Your leadership accelerates delivery from prototype to live testing, enabling mission-critical autonomy across air, sea, and space domains. Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow a team of autonomy engineers (typically 5-10 people) and drive performance, growth, and delivery.
  • Identify required skills, partner with recruiting, interview candidates, and maintain a high hiring bar.
  • Own technical delivery from initial design through validation and field deployment.
  • Set technical direction and define architectures for mission autonomy, balancing reuse with new development.
  • Develop tactical autonomy including motion planning, multi-agent coordination, track fusion, and perception-aware decision-making.
  • Remain technically engaged, prototyping capabilities and reviewing critical designs.
  • Drive engineering and integration rigor with high-performance, well-tested software and clear interfaces.
  • Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities, communicating changes and protecting execution.
Key requirements
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 7 years' experience; or 5 years with a master's; or 4 years with a PhD; or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading and developing engineers as a people manager or technical lead
  • Track record of leading a capability from design to field delivery
  • Significant experience with robotics or autonomous systems (motion planning, tactical behaviors, decision-making, controls, or multi-agent coordination)
  • Strong proficiency in C++ for production-quality software in real-time robotics or autonomy
  • Experience with unmanned systems, autonomy simulation environments, and software- or hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Strong systems-level problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. SECRET security clearance
