Overview

In this role you lead the QA and food safety program at Sabert's Richmond facility, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. You collaborate with plant teams to prevent quality and safety issues, oversee audits and certifications, and drive data-driven decision making. You will manage QA staff, partner with suppliers, and shape customer quality programs. This is a chance to impact product safety and process excellence at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Directly manage QA Technicians at the facility
  • Lead day-to-day QA and food safety auditing and inspection
  • Lead preventive and corrective actions for critical quality and safety problems
  • Drive continuous improvement objectives with plant personnel
  • Monitor and report QA data to enable statistical decision making
  • Manage GFSI/BRC certification audits for plant and warehouse
  • Audit and collaborate with strategic suppliers on quality and safety systems
  • Train QA personnel in data collection, inspection methods
  • Develop and execute customer quality/food safety programs and audits
  • Support audit, testing and analysis of existing/new products
  • Lead internal audits per the quality system
  • Control and release of withheld/retained product
  • Ensure product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality
  • Other duties as required
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (see above)
  • Minimum 7 years' QA/QC management experience in food packaging or manufacturing
  • Formal HACCP, GFSI/BRC and/or food safety certification/training
  • Proven collaboration across levels and with external partners
  • Strong problem-solving, time management and communication skills
  • Data analysis experience with solid grasp of statistical tools
  • Experience with SAP and Minitab preferred; MS Office skills required
