Overview In this role you will contribute to HVAC design on diverse building projects within a collaborative Buildings team. You'll develop full design documentation, model mechanical systems in BIM, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. You'll apply codes and standards to ensure compliant, high-quality designs while mentoring junior staff and supporting construction administration. This position offers involvement across multiple project types, from healthcare to research facilities, with a focus on sustainable design and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities- Collaborate with design colleagues to develop documentation for new construction and renovation across diverse facilities
- Develop design through sketches, diagrams, and visual formats
- Utilize BIM to model mechanical systems in 3D
- Prepare and revise site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details
- Participate in project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Engage with clients to establish design criteria and assist during construction administration
- Assist in preparing and coordinating project specifications and construction documents
- Conduct field surveys and produce field reports and punch lists
- Provide mentoring to junior staff
Key requirements- Knowledge of mechanical codes, energy codes, NFPA, ASHRAE standards
- Strong understanding of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specs
- Solid knowledge of mechanical systems and industry standards
- Ability to perform calculations using standard software and manufacturer tools (IESVE, Trane Trace, HAP)
- Technical writing ability for Basis of Design and discipline specifications
- Experience in the construction industry and integration with architects and engineers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Revit, and AutoCAD
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering; minimum 7 years of experience; PE or pursuing licensure; LEED AP/Green Associate preferred
