Senior Structural Bridge Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will lead design and analysis for road, highway, and transit bridges across MA and the New England region. You'll collaborate within the Critical Infrastructure team to deliver safe, compliant structures that shape urban environments. The role combines complex engineering tasks with CAD and documentation to support procurement and construction, while guiding junior engineers and CAD staff. This opportunity offers the chance to influence large-scale projects and advance infrastructure resilience and mobility.

Responsibilities
  • Design engineering for bridges and structures for road, highway, and transit systems in MA and New England
  • Prepare engineering computations, material takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs
  • Produce drawings, specifications, and construction materials for procurement
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines and departments
  • Prepare requisitions for equipment and materials
  • Review supplier submittals and perform technical bid analyses
  • Prepare and issue specifications and data sheets
  • Provide technical guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters and junior engineers
  • Possibly seal and sign as professional engineer, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations
  • Advise senior management on engineering matters and contribute to quality and continuous improvement
Key requirements
  • 8 or more years of related work experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
  • MS in Structural Engineering is desirable
  • Professional Engineer registration is preferred
  • Working knowledge of state Bridge Design Manuals is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in MS Office, bridge design and analysis software, and AutoCAD or MicroStation
