Overview As a mid-career System Safety Engineer in Space, you help embed safety into hardware and software for the Fleet Ballistic Missile program. You will review changes, develop hazard analyses, and maintain safety documentation to support contractual requirements and customer collaboration. You work with cross-functional teams and customer safety counterparts to ensure effective safety controls and compliance. This is a mission-driven role that shapes the safety strategy of highly complex defense systems. You will contribute to a safety-first culture that enables responsible innovation in space systems.

Responsibilities- Develop and update hazard analyses, including System Hazard Analyses and Safety Assessment Reports
- Prepare materials for Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and safety-focused meetings
- Support development and updating of System Safety documents to meet Customer and Range Safety requirements
- Collaborate with customer safety counterparts and defense weapon systems groups
- Review, track, and assess hardware and software changes for hazard impacts
- Ensure safety controls are integrated and maintained across hardware/software
Key requirements- Knowledge of system safety design and operations safety principles (hazard identification, risk mitigation, safety requirements management)
